From the word go in Alexandria Airport at 3am, we were adopted by an Egyptian family, whom we ended up staying with for a whole week. Thanks to their hospitality, grand tours and wise words, we were lucky enough to see a lot more to Egyptian culture than backshish (tip) husslers, camel masters and rickshaw drivers. Needless to say, the monuments will blow your skirt clean off.
